Is Clarence Demar a Boston Qualifier?
Yes. The Clarence DeMar Marathon is an official Boston Marathon qualifier. The timing of Boston Marathon registration changes each year, but recent tradition has it opening up in the 2nd week of September. A BQ at DeMar will qualify you for the next year's Boston Marathon, AND the year after that. It is very possible that the following year's Boston could be closed out before we run DeMar. However, your DeMar BQ will be good for the next year's Boston as well.
Are any measures being taken to increase safety following the attacks at the Boston Marathon?
DeMar race officials hold monthly protocol meetings with the City of Keene and local law enforcement officials regarding security and public safety. All agencies involved with producing this community wide event are working together to ensure the safety of our runners, volunteers and spectators.

| ||Is this race AWESOME?|
Well, we think so, but don't take our word for it. Here is one of many quotes left on marathonguide.com about the 2013 race: "I chose this marathon based on previous reviews of the race and could not have been more pleased with my choice. I would say that the gem of the race was the out and back portion of the Surry Dam. Breathtaking is not an adequate description. I was completely taken aback by the panoramic views. The hill in the cemetery was the toughest portion but having people strategically placed at the top of each hill, was helpful. The cheering stations set up at the bottom of other climbs were a nice touch and the volunteers were top notch. The medal was great and the tech shirt is the nicest I have gotten. The personal touches of the marathon were evident throughout. I particularly appreciated the welcome we received on the bus upon arrival at the start, from the race director. The finish was also well organized and exciting with very personal recognition from the race announcer.
I cannot recommend this race highly enough. I do hope that it grows, but not so much that the personal feel of the event would be sacrificed."
